As awareness is beginning to spread about how we are impacting our planet, more and more people are opting into more environmentally-friendly and sustainable lifestyle.

However, some families may be wanting to commit to these type of changes but are feeling a little overwhelmed. Big lifestyle changes are extremely difficult to change all at once and can leave us with more stress than solutions!

Does this sound like you?
Maybe your family doesn’t know how to start and needs a few small tips to implement into your daily routine rather than taking giant leaps.
In this blog post, I am sharing 8 small changes you and your family can make to help us all have a happier, healthier Earth.
1.Meatless Mondays
Being Southern, I know how difficult it can be to stop eating meat and animal products all together. We literally eat tiny creatures that come out the ground and look like bugs (aka crawfish, one of my favs!).
However, eating less meat may be a more doable option for you and your family. Skipping meat once or twice a week can have HUGE impacts on not only your health but also on your wallet.
I would highly suggest your family trying something like Meatless Monday once a week. Once you are comfortable with that, maybe even ease into eating meat once a day? (this is what I do!)

2. Use Reusable and Straws Bags
Rather than using those janky, plastic grocery bags you get at the store, try purchasing your own reusable grocery bags. Not only will you help save the wildlife, but your groceries also will not rip through.
Also, if you’re like me, I LOVE to use a straw. Simply, bring a reusable straw in your purse next time you go out to dinner!

3. Save Water
Remember the Never Let the Water Run song from Barnie? There was definitely a lot of truth to it.

Do your best to conserve our natural resources and try not to waste. Try taking showers more often than baths and reducing laundry for less loads.
4. Save Electricty
Simple ways to save electricity include small eco-friendly steps like turning off all the lights when leaving the house and unplugging electronic devices while you are not using them!
Another little tip is to change your air conditioner filter often! Your air conditioner won’t have to work as hard and you’ll save money!
5. Cut Back on Cups, and Plates
Yes, paper and plastic utensils and plates are so convenient and save a ton of time; however, they are not the most eco-friendly option.
Many of us have invested some money into glassware and dishes (maybe you even have nice china). I just want to encourage you to start using what you already invested money into! Um, who doesn’t want to save money?
6. Carpool or Ride Your Bike to Work
I think we all can struggle with finding time to squeeze in exercise with our busy lifestyles. So why not ride your bike and help the environment?

Also, carpooling is a great way to turn a coworker into a friend, which always helps work be more enjoyable.
And for parents, maybe you can partner up with some other parents and rotate who will bring the kids to school each week or rotate soccer practice drop-offs!
How fun is this idea!?
7. Recyle
Recycling is another easy step to use to help the environment, and now there are more services than ever before!
You can also recycle jars and plastic materials at your own house. I use some of the plastic containers that our deli meat comes in as Tupperware substitutes instead of throwing them away.
8. Teach Your Kids
Teaching the next generation how to be more environmentally conscious and make better decisions for the planet is the best long-term way to help our planet.
This tactic also allows you and your children to connect deeply and work together to build a better life for their future!
How are you going to teach your children to respect their home called Earth?

Conclusion
We all want to conserve our planet for our own children and future generations. By taking small action steps, we can have great impacts on the outcomes of our environment. It takes everyone doing their part to foster real and profitable change in our world, but I often find people feel overwhelmed by getting started. I hope these 8 simple ways have equipped you to start making more eco-friendly choices starting today!
